In addition to that advantage, web applications also work in a standard manner, regardless of the operating system or the version of the operating system that they are working within.  The fact that web applications do not have to be written specifically for different operating systems makes using web applications comparatively unproblematic for all users.  

However, that is not the whole story.  The same implementations have to be used in all browser specifications; otherwise it will cause problems for the development and other workings of web applications.   Another problem that could occur with web applications is the option that allows users to change their display settings on their browsers.  For example, font size, color and typefaces can be altered and these alterations can prove to be inconsistencies for web applications. 

An effective way to tackle this problem, one that is less frequently used, is to use Macromedia Flash or Java Applets as a part of, or for the entire, user interface.

Most web applications are written in PHP or Mod Perl.  When writing web applications there usually are standard frameworks that these softwares work within.  These frameworks automate the process of writing a web application and also allow the program to be defined in a more advanced way.   The use of a framework trims down the number of errors that could appear on a web application.  It does so by making the codes less complicated and allowing programmers to focus just on the framework. 

Programmers should consider the issue of hacking when writing a web application and take the necessary precautions to hinder hacking attempts.
